Settings
Choose how NotaBene looks, which language it speaks, and how it works for you.
Open Settings
Choose NotaBene ▸ Settings… or press ⌘,. Settings opens in a window of its own: you can move it, leave it open beside your notes, and close it with ⌘W. It is listed in the Window menu. It remembers which section you were in and its size.
There is no Done button: every setting takes effect as soon as you change it.
Tap the gear in the navigation bar. Settings opens as a sheet over the app.
Light or Dark
NotaBene follows the system's appearance. To choose for NotaBene alone, open Settings ▸ Appearance and pick Light or Dark. The whole app follows your choice — its colors, the paper the editor writes on and the attachments in your notes — whatever the system is set to.
The colors of your headings are set in Settings ▸ Appearance too, once for the whole library.
English or Czech
NotaBene can be in English or in Czech, whatever language your device uses. Choose it in Settings ▸ Language. Everything follows the choice at once, Settings' own pages included.
The language your recordings are transcribed in is a separate setting; see Recordings and transcripts.

- VoiceOver — buttons and controls throughout the app have labels that VoiceOver reads.
- Haptics — the device taps back when a touch and hold succeeds, when you tick off or add a task, when a recording starts or stops, and when one of those fails. Ordinary buttons do not tap. It follows the system's haptics setting.
