Claude and your mail
Let Claude read the Outlook mailboxes you connected in NotaBene, so you can ask it about your mail in your own words — across every mailbox at once, whichever organisation each belongs to.
Turn it on
- Connect your mailboxes in Settings ▸ Mail, if you have not already. See Connect your mail.
- In Settings ▸ Claude, with Let Claude read your notes on, turn on Let Claude read your mail.
It is off until you turn it on: letting Claude read your notes does not open your mailboxes. With it on, Claude can read and nothing more — it cannot send, move or delete anything.
Ask about your mail
In the Claude app or in Claude Code, ask in your own words — for example, What did the contractor send about the route this week? or Find the latest offer from Contoso and tell me what it says.
Claude can:
- list your connected mailboxes
- list a mailbox's folders, every one of them, with its full path
- list the messages in a folder, newest first — the Inbox, unless you name another
- search your mail the way Outlook's search field does, by words, sender and dates, in every mailbox at once
- read a message: its text, its attachments by name and size, and the rest of its conversation, with the folder where each message is filed
When you have several mailboxes, Claude searches them all unless you name one. A mailbox that needs signing in again says so, and the others still answer.
> [!note] > Claude reads Outlook mailboxes. Mailboxes connected over IMAP are not available to Claude yet.
NotaBene tells Claude that the text of your mail is your data, never instructions to follow.
