Merge and duplicate notes
Combine several notes into a single new one, or make a copy of a note.
Merge notes
- Select two or more notes in the list. See The note list: pin, sort, select.
- Use the merge button in the bar at the foot of the list, or choose Merge Notes… in one of the selected notes' context menu.
- In the dialog, check the new note's title. It starts as the top note's title; type your own to change it.
- Check the order the notes will be combined in. Each note is listed with its size. Drag a note by the handle beside it to move it, or remove it from the merge with ⊖.
- If you want, change the options under Advanced Options (below).
- Confirm the merge.
Advanced Options holds three options: keep a copy of the original notes (off to begin with), separate each note's content with a horizontal rule (on), and carry each note's title in as a heading (on). With the last one on, each title comes in as a Heading 1.
The result is a new note, and it opens as soon as it is made. None of the notes you picked becomes the merged note: unless you chose to keep the originals, they all go to the Trash together, where you can still restore them.
Tags and pins from any of the notes carry over to the merged note. It is filed in the top note's notebook.
