Capture a note or a task from your wrist, check off what is due, and read your notes on Apple Watch.

Make a note or a task

The NotaBene app on Apple Watch opens on two capture rows.

  1. Tap the blue row to make a note, or the task row to make a task.
  2. Dictate or type it.

You can also add a task with Add Task inside any of the task lists. The watch has no recorder — a note is dictated, not recorded.

After a task is saved, the watch shows a green tick and Task saved, and under it when the task is due — or No Due Date. Tap New Task to dictate another, or Done to go back. If the watch could not reach iCloud, it says so and offers Try Again; the task is already kept on the watch, so nothing is lost.

A task made on the watch goes into the note chosen in Settings ▸ Tasks ▸ Note for new tasks.

Your tasks

Below the capture rows are the task lists: Today, Overdue, Upcoming, No Due Date and All. In a list you can:

The date and time pickers have three buttons around them: ✕ leaves the value as it was, − removes it, and ✓ keeps what you set.

Everything you do on the watch reaches your other devices in the order you did it. A task with a day but no time is not shown as late until that day is over.

Your notes

Choose Notes in the watch app to see every note by its title. Tap one to read it, with its headings, lists, bold text and links.

On the watch face

NotaBene has five complications. Each can sit on a face on its own.

The complications read the copy of your library kept on the watch, so they work without your iPhone nearby. They update whenever the watch app runs, and again at the top of each hour, so a task falling due changes the face on its own.

Note: After you install the watch app, open it once so the complications can fill in.
