Claude and your PDFs
Ask Claude to mark up, comment on or rearrange a PDF, and NotaBene does it itself, in the background — Claude needs no file and never takes over your screen.
This needs Let Claude make changes turned on (Let Claude make changes).
What Claude can do to a PDF
Ask in your own words, for example Highlight the sentence about the notice period in the lease and comment "We want six months", or Turn page 3 of the scan the right way up.
- Highlight, underline or strike out words, with a comment or without one. What Claude marks is signed Claude and shows in NotaBene's annotation list like your own marks, and in any other PDF reader.
- Change a comment or a colour, or remove a mark.
- Turn pages, remove pages (at least one always stays) and put pages in a new order.
- Add the pages of another PDF in the same note at the end.
- Fill in a form's fields.
This works for a PDF in a note and for a PDF attached to a task.
Put the PDF back as it was
Every change keeps the PDF as it was before:
- Open the note and choose Info ▸ History.
- Under Attachments, pick the PDF. A PDF from a task shows the task's name beside the file's.
- Choose Restore.
The PDF it replaces is kept in turn, so you can change your mind again.
Replacing a file
When Claude already has a new version of a file — a corrected document, a picture — it can put it in place of the attachment, under the same name. The new file must be the same kind as the old one: a PDF for a PDF, a picture for a picture. The file it replaces is kept under Info ▸ History ▸ Attachments the same way, and Home's Recent shows the change as Replaced.
