NotaBene is made by one person, and the same person answers the post. There is no ticket number and no queue: write, and a human replies.

The form is on the home page. It goes nowhere but to me — no third party in between, and no address to copy out by hand.

If you are testing the beta, TestFlight is quicker still: take a screenshot and it offers to send it, or tap Send Beta Feedback. Your device, your version of the system and the build number come attached, so none of that has to be typed.

Either way, the three things worth saying are which device you are on, what you did, and what you expected to happen instead.

What it needs

  • macOS 15, iOS 18, iPadOS 18 or watchOS 11, and anything later.
  • Widgets need iOS 26. The app itself does not — it runs on 18, the widgets are the part that asks for more.
  • The Watch app is not a separate download. It arrives with the iPhone one. If it does not turn up, it is in Watch ▸ My Watch ▸ Available Apps.
  • Syncing needs each device signed in to iCloud. There is no NotaBene account to create, and nothing to sign up for.

Asked most often

Where are my notes kept?
In a folder of ordinary files on your device, mirrored through CloudKit into the private database of your own iCloud account. No server of mine is in that path and I cannot read any of it — the privacy policy says so at more length.

Nothing is arriving on my other device.
Check that both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account, then open Settings ▸ iCloud in the app, which says what syncing is actually doing. A change made elsewhere arrives by push, and opening the app asks for anything it missed.

Can I get everything back out?
Yes, and without asking anybody. Settings ▸ Import & Export ▸ Export Library writes every note as Markdown with its attachments in a folder beside it. A single note goes out as Markdown or PDF from the note's own menu.

I deleted a note by mistake.
It is in Trash in the sidebar, keeping everything it had, until the Trash is emptied. Restore puts it back where it was.
