Privacy Policy
Effective 22 August 2026 · NotaBene 1.0 (beta)
NotaBene collects no data. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server of the developer's that anything is sent to.
Where your notes live
The library is a folder of ordinary files inside the app's container on your device.
It is mirrored through CloudKit into the private database of your own iCloud
account (container iCloud.net.zavrel.NotaBene). The developer has no
access to it — technically or otherwise. Apple's privacy terms govern it.
What the app uses, and why
- Camera — only when you scan a document or take a picture into a note. The image goes straight into the library.
- Microphone and speech recognition — only while recording and transcribing. The transcription is Apple's system service; the recording stays in the note.
- Calendar and Reminders — only if you open that column. Data is read from and written to the system apps directly; nothing is copied anywhere.
- Notifications — for reminders you set yourself, and for the silent pushes iCloud uses to announce a change made on another device.
The system asks for each of these the first time you use the feature that needs it. Declining disables only that one feature.
Analytics and advertising
None. The app contains no analytics SDK, no ad network and no behavioural measurement. It does not track you across apps or websites.
Feedback during the beta
If you send feedback through TestFlight, Apple attaches technical details about your device, OS version and build number; the same is true of crash reports. Apple processes that data and passes it to the developer in aggregate. If you write to [email protected], only what you put in the message is processed, and only to deal with that message. Messages are passed to nobody and are deleted once they are no longer needed.
Your rights
Since no records about you are kept, there is nothing to disclose or correct. You delete your notes by removing the app and clearing its container data in Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ iCloud. Email correspondence is deleted on request — just write to [email protected].
Changes
If any of the above changes, this page changes first and testers are told. The effective date is at the top.
